If you are looking for a way to enrich the neighborhood and meet your neighbors, volunteer to join or lead one of our committees. Our committee members play a vital role in promoting Olde Towne’s community spirit. Being a part of a committee is a rewarding experience. Volunteer today!
Beautification
Chairperson: Ashley Hill & Allison Pasquine
Responsibilities: Caring for our parks, plants, and flowers, a well as coordinating our monthly neighborhood clean-ups.
Volunteer Opportunities: All neighbors are invited to join our monthly clean up on the third Saturday of the month. We meet in Red Lion Park at 9am to get grabbers and trash bags.
Doors, Porches & Gardens Tour
Chairperson: Jerry Freeman & Faye Bailey
Responsibilities: Committee members help to plan and coordinate all aspects of the Doors, Porches ,and Gardens event.
Volunteer Opportunities: There are many opportunities to volunteer for this event, but primarily we always need people to serve as docents at each home on the tour.
Olde Towne Ghost Walk
Chairperson: Martin Bayer
Responsibilities: Committee members help to plan and coordinate all aspects of the Ghost Walk. This event takes place every year on the Friday before Halloween.
Volunteer Opportunities: This is our biggest fundraiser of the year and it is quite the production. It require many volunteers and there’s a job for everyone. We always need Ghost Walk Guides. These volunteers lead groups of 20 around Olde Towne to each stop. It doesn’t require any speaking, but knowledge of the roads is reccommended.
Holiday Wreath Hanging
Chairperson: Tom Butt
Responsibilities: This committee organizes the wreath hanging party in Red Lion Park. Funded by the League, they acquire the wreaths and assign jobs during the event.
Volunteer Opportunities: All neighbors are invited to come out on a December morning to prep and hang holiday wreaths throughout the neighborhood, as well as hang lights in Greenwich and Westminster parks.
Holiday Homes Tour
Chairperson: Open
Responsibilities: Committee members plan and coordinate this tour the biennial Holiday Homes Tour. This Tour is a Portsmouth holiday favorite. Beautiful historic Olde Towne homes dating back as far as the mid-late 1700s dressed in their holiday best are open for touring.
Volunteer Opportunities: The tour requires volunteers to help inside the homes of their neighbors to make sure all guests can find their way around. There is typically a need for volunteers to help with decorating and ticket sales/admissions.
OTPCL Skippers
Chairperson: Nicole Puskar
Responsibilities: This program was developed to recognize kids of members who volunteer along side their parent/guardian. This committee assists the Skippers in preforming tasks and in some cases sets up specific jobs for them to do during our events.
Volunteer Opportunities: Kids ages 5-12 are invited to join as helpers for civic league events and neighborhood activities. Parents/Guardians should be Members. Kids do not need to come to meetings and there is not an additional cost for kid members, just lend a hand when it fits your schedule. Skipper opportunities are posted on our social media pages and Olde Towne Portsmouth Families Facebook page.
Tech & Communications
Chairperson: Rachel Dewing
Responsibilities: The Tech & Communications committee manages the league’s website, updates content, and recommends digital best practices. They also assist other committees with outreach and technical issues related to events.
Volunteer Opportunities: Are you tech savvy? The committee can also use more members to help with website upkeep and improve communication.
