This historic neighborhood dates back to 1740 and is the largest collection of historic homes between Alexandria, VA and Charleston, SC. Musical entertainment, historical re-enactors, and plein air artists will be performing for your enjoyment.
Doors, Porches, and Gardens tickets are $15. Tickets are available to purchase online and at local High St. retailers. Children 10 and younger are free.
Check-in at Court Street Baptist Church and pick-up your map and a schedule of events. The tour is self-guided and may be completed at your own pace. Free parking is available on Court Street, in the Middle Street Garage, or at any of the city lots.
During your visit, stroll through our Farmers Market at St. John’s Episcopal Church, be inspired at Anderson-Wright Rooms & Gardens, purchase a bouquet at Olde Towne Flower Co., and tour the Hill House Museum and enjoy their gardens for an additional entrance fee. Portsmouth Olde Towne Farmers Market is open just about every Saturday at 10:00 AM. The market features local vendors with fresh veggies, meats, seafood, arts and crafts items, and more! Anderson-Wright Rooms and Gardens is an amazing place to inspire your next garden project. Their courtyard is stunning and not to be missed. It’s Portsmouth’s most popular garden shop. Take home a fresh cut bouquet from Olde Towne Flower Co.’s flower farm. This 4,000 sq. foot urban plot is located in Olde Towne. They follow organic practices and utilize small space high intensity flower farming. Come check out the Hill House gardens and meet “Lizzy Hill,” one of the Hill sisters who lived in the house and who was known for her gardening expertise. Step back in time and tour the Hill House Museum for an additional $5.
