Guests will be treated to some of the most haunting stories of Portsmouth’s past.
Ghosts of the Olde Towne Ghost Walk tell their tales of love, loss, murder and mayhem! Patrons are guided on a walking tour through the historic distric of Olde Towne, Portsmouth. At each haunted house visitors hear actors retell the legends of ghostly visitations and things that go bump in the night!The ghosts of the Olde Towne Ghost Walk only appear once a year on the Friday before Halloween!
Ghost Walk Bazaar
The Ghost Walk Bazaar will be open from 5 – 9:30 PM. This spooktacular event features curated vendors and entertainment especially for Ghost Walk. In years past, we’ve had exciting street performers like stilt walkers and fire eaters! The Ghost Walk tour begins and ends at the Ghost Walk Bazaar, so come early or stay a spell to visit all the haunted happenings.
The Bazaar is free and open to the public.

Ghost Walk FAQs
There is FREE parking in municipal parking garage on Middle Street. Additional Parking is available at the County Street Lot behind the Children’s Museum. Due to the event, on-street parking in the Olde Towne business district will be very limited so we recommend you select one of the previously mentioned lots.

Ticket’s for this event sell out every year. The only way to guarantee a spot is to purchase in advance online, but clear your schedule because tickets are non-refundable.
Upon arrival, please visit the check-in table at the Ghost Walk Bazaar and show your email confirmation to get your tour wristband. You must get a wristband prior to your tour time. Tours begin and end in front of Trinity Episcopal Church, 500 Court Street, Portsmouth, VA, at the intersection of High Street & Court Streets in downtown Portsmouth.
We recommend that you arrive 30 minutes prior to your tour time in order to check in and get the colored wristband. Please queue up in front of Trinity Church with your wristband 5-15 minutes prior to your tour time. Example: a 5:30 ticket will have a start time of 5:30, 5:37, 5:45, or 5:52. Groups of about 40 will see the first 2 stories together and then will split into two smaller groups of about 20 to go on either the East or West route.
If you would like to purchase tickets for a group of 10 or more, please contact us at oldetowneghostwalk@gmail.com. This way we can make sure we account for your large group and get you all on a tour together.
If you want to make sure you get a very different experience from last year, we have good news: we have two routes. When you check-in, let our volunteers know which direction you walked last year — East, toward the Elizabeth River, or West, toward Churchland. Each route has different stories, actors, and houses, so you’re sure to be entertained.
The tour lasts approximately 60 minutes and will begin and end at Trinity Episcopal Church, 500 Court St.
Visitors should wear comfortable shoes and weather-appropriate clothing. You may wear a costume if you’re feeling festive but please keep it family friendly. Additionally, please consider other guests’ ability to see around you.
The show must go on! Tours will will be held in moonlight or rain.
For the comfort of all guests, no pets are allowed on the tour.
This is non-smoking tour. Please no cigarettes, cigars, pipes, or vapes.
Cameras are welcome, but please be courteous to our actors, your fellow tour guests, and home owners. This is a residential area. Houses are private property and not open to the public.
